F.O.C.U.S. Youth Network

F.O.C.U.S. Youth Network is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing innovative educational and recreational activities to school aged youth focused in wellness and nutrition education, character development, and S.T.E.M. education.

We will be a network of recreation centers promoting, fighting for, and facilitating social change in urban and inner-city neighborhoods. Through life-changing experiences, we will empower the youth we serve to walk and in their purpose.

We promise to never chase the money, but do it for the cause. We believe that through our efforts to help youth and their families reach their full potential, we will be rewarded.

Through a variety of programs, we help our youth to find themselves.
“We know that extraordinary experiences will produce an extraordinary individual.”

  • Through innovative programs such as Young Men Can Cook and our Picky Eaters club, in addition to various workshops and demonstrations, we equip youth and adults with the skills they need to “Live a Lifetime of Wellness”.

  • We believe that we are the sum total of our experiences and that exposure if key. Programs such as B.R.O.T.H.E.R.S. (Brothers Reaching out to Help Each Reach Success), our annual F.O.C.U.S. Fashion Show, and our Summer Youth Experience, we provide opportunities for youth to experience a variety of “first times”. Through these experiences, participants develop self-confidence, as well as a strong sense of self-efficacy, and civic engagement.

  • Our annual “Buchanan Family Scholarship” as well as our Workforce Academy program provides college ready youth with not only the funds but the skills to attend college and pursue their dreams. Through the F.O.C.U.S. “Game Changer” Awards, we also acknowledge young people for becoming positively contributing members of their community.

  • The game of chess helps to develop strong character. Our chess club will not only teach the basics of chess to youth, but also teach strategy while helping to build self-confidence, creativity, and problem-solving skills.

  • Outdoor Club is a game changer. Outdoor Club will expose our youth to the beautiful world of state and national parks. While exploring Philadelphia is fun and informative, the Outdoor Club seeks to expose our youth to nature while exploring scientific principles, and factors affecting our environment. Outdoor clubs also seeks to curb the effects of childhood obesity by lowering blood sugar, blood pressure, and body fat through aerobic exercise.
